Everglow Community Care is set to expand its service offering in the Hinchinbrook region, with the Association’s new Lannercost Street office currently being fitted out.

Former Hinchinbrook Shire Council Mayor and Everglow Community Care Chairman Rodger Bow said the new office is exciting for both clients and staff.

“We provide support services to around 420 clients across the Hinchinbrook region and employ 24 staff at our Ingham office,” Mr Bow said.

“The new premises will allow Everglow Community Care to expand its service offering considerably, through the addition of more social support activities to promote additional connection and cohesion in our community.

“Over the next 12 months, we’ll also work towards the opening of the second part of the building, which will provide a day respite centre.

“Being a carer for a parent, family member or friend can bring isolation and stress to the individual involved. We see a lot of people who try to keep loved ones at home for as long as possible step up as the carer, while also juggling their own life which often includes raising young children and employment.

“We’re looking to give those unsung heroes some regular time out- they can bring Mum and Dad to Everglow Community Care for a day visit where we will provide food, run craft and other activities and also have beds and a loungeroom for relaxation purposes- ensuring a safe, pleasant and engaging day visit.”

The new office will be around four times the size of our current premises located in the Canegrowers building arcade.

Everglow Community Care expects the move will allow some staff members greater opportunity for full time employment.

“We’re extremely excited about what the move will mean for our staff, our clients and the local community more broadly,” Mr Bow said.

“It’s been an extensive process to find the right property; Everglow has been a part of the local community for around two decades and this move will ensure we can continue to grow and support the region and its people for many more years to come.”

Everglow Community Care will move into the Lannercost Street premises in mid-June 2020.
